THE AWARENESS SUBSTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM


Our Teenage Administrative Volunteer Staff:

Stephan Bielecki – AWARENESS Administrator - Graduated from Hunter College in 2012

Rose Hallinan – AWARENESS Consultant – Attending St. John's College to obtain law degree

Zephyr Dresser-Peck - AWARENESS Alcohol Program Coordinator- Worked voluntarily to create AWARENESS Alcohol Program in 2007 with his peers since he drove drunk on prom night which resulted in the death of his best friend. He attended SUNY New Paltz and was on the Deans List. He served 3 1/3 years in prison and returned to volunteer in the program in May 2010. He attends weekly meetings as a peer advocate and does presentations to support the program. He is attending SUNY UCCC.

Alycia Geiss -  Alycia drove the day after not realizing she still had alcohol in her system. She had a car crash that claimed the life of the back seat passenger We approached her to ask if she would seak to the offenders when she was was in County Jail serving a 6 month sentence. Alycia first shared her story with teens at the program in handcuffs brought from her cell. She is nowtrained in the evidence based brief intervention program and volunteers her time weekly and continues to speak at presentations.

Jo Griffits - MA LMHC Works with the teens and provides training as needed. She has a Masters in Handwriting Analysis and engages the teens with this amazing skill. 

Marie Shultis -CASAC - T Adult Administrator - Coordinates the program. She helps the teens connect with other organizations to help them find alternative activities to help them change the behaviors in their lives.
